374848 2005-07-24 10:07:00 Hey all.

I have bought a "Liteon DVD+R 16X DVD Drive" and for some reason it aint working. My computer wont even recognise it nor my old CD drive. I have tried everything I can, rearranging the "master" & "slave", but it still wont work. I have Windows XP, and "troubleshoot" cant even come up with anything. It comes up with (Code 41) or something. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

374851 2005-07-24 10:45:00 Is something like CD Creator installed?? If so, what version?

Try deleting both cds in device manager and reboot.

374853 2005-07-24 11:37:00 Um.. just double checking... you did plug the power into them both.
Even techs have been known to miss the most obvious

Windows successfully loaded the device driver for this hardware but cannot find the hardware device. (Code 41).

374856 2005-07-24 12:28:00 Just checking too the cables are inserted correctly into the drive right? (the red line on the IDE cable is next to the power plug) on the back of the Drive? cajetan (8513)
374857 2005-07-24 13:37:00 Yes I have checked and all cables are correctly installed . Now when I boot my comp up, its says "secondary drive not found" I hope I aint stuffed my computer

I'm just wondering if I should take my comp into a shop to get the DVD drive installed, and wondering if anyone knows how much this will cost??

Or if anyone else has any suggestions?

Speedy I had a wee look at that website, but I'm apprehensive about playing with files from the Registry .

Cheers
