2005-07-24 01:31:00 | At least this is a simple query. I am wanting to transfer my existing wallpaper files to a new computer and also to delete some of them before transferring them. Could you please tell me the names of the folder/file containing the wallpaper files and where I will find it on the C drive OS W98SE. thanks for your help. willbry

2005-07-24 10:30:00 | I'm not much help here, willbry, as I've heaps of pix on a wallpaper changer program (disabled at present though) & am now on XP instead of the 98SE I had when I set it up. But I venture a suggestion... When I checked where my wallpaper pix are now, I got a big list of varying files. They're scattered, depending on where I got them from & what program I used to download them. A couple of obvious places are: C:\WINDOWS C:\ Program files But as I've often used Irfanview, many are in C:\Application Data\Irfanview. So knowing which program/settings you used to actually "Set as wallpaper" would help to find what file/s they're in. I found mine by simply using XP's Search/All files & folders - with "wallpaper" as the search word. Why don't you try the 98SE equivalent on your computer?

2005-07-24 10:35:00 | just enable thumnail view and look in the windows directory, if they are in a folder then they should still be displayed. Or do a system search for *.bmp, will only take a second or 4.

2005-07-24 11:04:00 | Dunno about willbry, but you're well ahead of me here, metla... (Still definitely a newb on stuff I've never needed yet) So how do I/does anyone: (a) enable thumbnail view? (b) do a system search? (Ordinary Search for .bmp is a hoot. A zillion files with the occasional pic used for wallpaper among them. Or absolutely everything that's on my Picasa 2) Need the real basic - Start Here - then ????? And I suspect willbry & I won't be the only ones that learn something...

It uses JPEG as the bg pics. |
