374544 2005-07-23 02:31:00 I'm trying to re-install Win Xp and while using the floppies (my CD drive is somehow non-bootable) it prompted me for the drivers for my SATA drive. But it somehow won't load the driver from the floppy and kept on giving me this error:

"File \SATA\winxp\viasraid.sys caused an unexpected error (4096) at line 2108 in d:\xpclient\base\boot\setup\oemdisk.c.

press any key to continue"

Does anyone know how i can get this fixed? i need to get this done so i can install win xp onto the drive.

374545 2005-07-23 02:53:00 Are u using SATA RAID??

Did u change the bootdisk in the BIOS to cd?? if u have the XP CD??

To see if it'll boot from cd.

374546 2005-07-23 03:11:00 yeah i'm using SATA RAID

I dont know why, but i think my bios is very old so i can't choose boot from cd. is there any other way of fixing that error?

374547 2005-07-23 03:13:00 All BIOSs will boot from CD. So I'd troubleshoot that first.
Second, are you using the right driver? Your MB CD will have a section for sATA and should include a make floppy part.

374549 2005-07-23 09:52:00 This floppy based boot manager will overcome your non booting cdrom problem

linux.simple.be

Its a great little tool I use often to overcome the non booting cdrom issues. I've had some will and others wont (on the same machine) And it wasn't a BIOS setting fault either.
