375112 2005-07-25 05:32:00 I stumble on a list of MS patches by MS-0XX number, in decending date order and listed by severity (need to apply) for win2k. I'm sure there will be an equivalent XP list. It took some finding though, MS much prefer you to use Windows Update.

Edit: Here it is, MS security Bulletin Search (www.microsoft.com). If you want to limit the search to ,say, since XP SP2, use the drop down lists and fields to set the parameters. Enjoy.

375113 2005-07-25 05:41:00 Alternatively you could setup a Microsoft SUS server and have all the machines point to it for their updates. KiwiTT_NZ (233)
375114 2005-07-25 05:48:00 There's Autopatcher XP, which has most updates for XP. There are also versions for 2000/2003.

The main site is http://www.autopatcher.com, which takes u to another site for the download.

Thx for that Murray - that's useful.

375116 2005-07-25 09:44:00 hmm I found out a way to see what KB updates were on my machine so far... not sure if this will help anyone else or not, but I thought I'd check 'unistall programs' in control panel. Nothing much there but in regedit all the KB hotfixes and security updates are listed in hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\curr entversion\uninstall and then there are a ton of KB# folders under that.

Now my next question is if they are all there why are they not listed in the add remove progs section in control panel?

'deeper into the rabbit hole' :p

375117 2005-07-25 11:22:00 In XP, go to Start > Run > appwiz.cpl and at the top of the Add/Remove Programs is a Show Updates tick box which displays the Updates (screenshot (sal.neoburn.net)).

I was also going to recommend AutoPatcher XP (www.neowin.net).

375118 2005-07-25 11:35:00 I would seriously look at doing some automated installs with either RemoteInstallationService or something like Ghost. Jeremy (1197)
