375603 2005-07-26 10:52:00 Think I may have a dead Mo/Bo or CPU on my hands ...

PC Chips M925 motherboard with P4 1.6GHZ cpu
768MB DDR266 RAM (2 sticks)
XP Pro
no floppy
no optical drives
2 hard drives on primary IDE channel

I have just shifted house and started up PC to check it post-shifting -- started okay 1st time but froze after about 5 minutes -- rebooted via the reset switch and that's when the problems started!
PC won't boot or beep -- PSU is fine/HDD light is displaying okay but definitely no beeps at POST stage or a successful boot up!
Have taken out RAM sticks and tried one stick at a time without any success.
PC will power up and CPU/PSU fans running fine but that's it.
Any suggestions/hints??!!!

375604 2005-07-26 10:54:00 remove EVERYTHING other than CPU and RAM.

remove all drives and cards including video.

if you still get no beeps of any kind then is a CPU or board.

375606 2005-07-26 21:43:00 Yes, have you tried another PSU? I had one yesterday that was faulty - the 4pin connector to the MB was not giving power properly. pctek (84)
375607 2005-07-26 23:44:00 Make sure the reset button is not stuck in or disconnect reset cable from mainboard to be sure. CYaBro (73)
375608 2005-07-27 06:30:00 No beeps can somtimes be ram too - try different slots? Agent_24 (57)
375609 2005-07-27 06:36:00 Well no, not all systems beep on bootup, like this one .

Coz ASUS were stupid enough to make it, (with this mobo), so every USB device u had connected to it, made the system beep lol .

ie: If u had 5-6 USB devices connected, it would beep 5-6 times .

So, ASUS killed the beep completely (with a BIOS update), to stop ppl getting confused on whether the beeps were a prob, or because they had a lot of USB devices connected .
