375277 2005-07-25 12:01:00 ok so I have two pcs.....both running xp.....one has jetstream on it...the other not.

They are not networked yet and stand approximately 50 metres apart. THere is no chance of them being closer...

so what do I need....and need to do to have jetstream running on both?

Just to add....one is in a farm cottage the other in the main house.

375278 2005-07-25 12:05:00 50 metres?!! jeez, big house boy!

A router and long long cables... or a wireless card in both and internet sharing

375279 2005-07-25 12:06:00 if you are using an internal ADSL modem you will need a 50m crossover cable and ethernet port/cards on each machine, Dunno how much luck you will have sourcing a 50m crossover cable and jetstream over ICS (internet connection sharing) can be a B***H.

With luck you are using a router (and hopefully one thats not to crappy) if its a single port model then plug a hub into it (approc $25) and run an ethernet cable from each comp to the hub.

375280 2005-07-25 12:11:00 I don't really want to be running cabels outisde though, it'll mena hacving to dig trenches and then there's putting the cable in a pipe of some sort. bubbybrat (8594)

375283 2005-07-25 12:52:00 If you are using an external ADSL Modem you should get an access point (www.ascent.co.nz) for position1.

You will need line of sight between position1 and position2.

Position2 you can either have a simpler version of the above access point or an internal PCI wireless ethernet adapter (www.ascent.co.nz).

Let us know what the line of sight is like and what type on modem you are using.
