| 375227 | 2005-07-28 10:29:00 | Thanks everyone for your replies. New cable didn't make any difference and still having intermittent problems. Have decided the fault is with the drive itself and will have to get new one. The drive is a DSE USB 2.0 ProDrive - ( ) I know, el cheapo! It was great though and has an inbuilt card reader which I will miss. Thanks Lucy |

| 375229 | 2005-07-29 11:14:00 | Sorry folks, just one more query. Would keeping the drive in my handbag along side my cellphone have had any effect on the drive? You hear things like cellphone "cook" your brain so got to wondering if phone did same to drive. Cheers Lucy |

| 375231 | 2005-07-29 12:43:00 | Any offers to give this away? I would be interested to look into it further. I doubt I can fix it, but who knows - maybe it'll end up working? Still wouldn't trust for important data though. Bletch |

It will get regular bursts of high-power RF while in your handbag and if not shielded against EMI, problems could occur. The chances are a bit remote though. See my post in This Thread (pressf1.pcworld.co.nz) for more information on EMI from cellphones. Cheers Billy 8-{) |

I'm still using it but not to store really important stuff that would be disastrous to lose. Sorry about that. Thanks for the replies about phone. As Billy T says, I thought the chances would be remote, but still I think I will keep the 2 apart when I get round to getting a new drive. Cheers Lucy |
