375753 2005-07-26 23:59:00 :badpc: Have installed a Pioneer dvr 109 black DVD writer.
Has been running but not well I thought so I updated driver to 1.17. Still had probs so thought to uninstall driver then reinstall. But now can't update driver. Windows keep installing Microsoft driver dated 7 Jan 2001.Have found that once you update you can't roll back driver. But I can't even update to latest.

Cheers

375754 2005-07-27 00:09:00 Windows normally installs the driver.

Sounds like u updated the firmware update, for the burner??

The firmware, is different from the driver.

And the firmware version doesnt appear under the properties of the dvd/cd in device manager.

I think its the firmware you updated. Its now up to 1.57

375755 2005-07-27 00:14:00 Yes You are correct. Should driver details be microsoft?
And I did mean 1.57 in original post

375756 2005-07-27 00:24:00 Yup the driver should be Microsoft, NOT Pioneer .

Unless u installed the drivers that came with the DVD burner, which shouldnt be needed .

What version of Windows, are u using? And what are you using to burn whatever to the burner? What program?

You can roll back the drivers, but that 1 . 57 version isnt a driver .

375758 2005-07-27 00:43:00 You're not formatting the dvds before u use them in Nero are you??

What format are u saving the files as in Premiere?

And what version of Nero are you using??
Speedy Gonzales (78)
375759 2005-07-27 03:03:00 No Not formatting first
Nero 6.3
Since updating firmware to 1.57 it has had trouble reading disks
Just tried disk copy and copied imation -R disk image ok but burn to blank imation -R was a flop. Tried several disks but kept getting ejected

375760 2005-07-27 03:11:00 I would try updating Nero . Its upto 6 . 6 . 0 . 15/a

Or try different blank dvds .

What are u trying to burn from premiere?

An Mpeg/AVI file?

And what are u trying to create? A videocd? DVD?

Also, is there another cd on the same ide connection as this burner??

If there is, did u jumper one as Master and one as slave? And configure both in the BIOS?

And what ide connection is this burner on? The secondary ide connection?

Its not on the same ide connection as a hard drive is it??
