2005-07-27 04:38:00 | quake1 and 2 :) UT, avp and others of that age should all play but it depends on if the vid cards are just "8meg" or onboard crap.

2005-07-27 05:07:00 | We've got two or three people who're gonna have 8meg AGP Cards, maybe 16megs.... None will have Onboard Quake 2 sounds good. Ive still got Quake3 in the garage and im pretty sure its cheap off trademe. Do they all do up to 32 players though???

2005-07-27 08:10:00 | Day of Defeat is great fun, especially for that amount of people and it will run on almost anything, I'm hooked since the original release... but now.. my monitor is broken so i cant play anymore... :groan: | bizzack (7739) | |
2005-07-27 08:41:00 | X-wing vs tie fighter is a a pretty fun game with very modest system requirements, but i think it only supports 16 players and everyone needs a joystick. If playing the half-life games like day of defeat and counterstrike, the versions before steam would run alot faster on the older computers, so everyone would have a decent framerate. This game may be interesting for you, but i have never seen a copy of it in new zealand: www.gamespy.com pc.gamespy.com

2005-07-27 22:38:00 | I can endorse any of the Half Life series for a low spec LAN. I've been organising Halflife LANS for the past 3 - 4 years and this enables everyone to play, it even runs well on my 300 celeron with the blistering Voodoo 2. It allows newbies to learn first person shooters for a reasonable price. The Team Fortress mod included with the patch is stable and encourages team play. If there's a bunch of newbies you may want to skip Counterstrike as they die quickly and then have to wait for the end of the round to play again. It's quick to install, and the licence allows up to 5 copies of the same CD key on the same LAN.
