| 375794 | 2005-07-27 03:05:00 | oohh man, I dont know what has happened but my monitor wont respond anymore. I wanted to leave my pc on over night to let a download finish and I unplugged my monitor to save power, anyways in the morning when i plugged it all back in it wouldnt work. when I plug it into the power socket it clicks on for a second and then goes off completely... so i know power is getting through to it but then it goes dead straight away!! It a few eyars old, I bought it off my friend a 19inch CRT, i only bought it for $100 but it's never had any problems, no indication that it was dying... does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?? I cant afford even a second hand one because im a struggling student! :groan: i hoap someone can help me! | bizzack (7739) | ||
| 375795 | 2005-07-27 04:07:00 | Monitors can do that. Be alright one minute and be dead the next. Take it to a service person to look at as a monitor that won't go is to complex to diag. over the internet as there could be lots of reasons why it won't go which you can't fix yourself. Trevor :) |

Most I know won't even look at PC monitors, Infact the closest TV tech to me called in and asked me to stop sending people his way with monitors....muhahahaha. |

| 375797 | 2005-07-27 04:19:00 | are you sure its the monitor at fault? the monitor won't turn on if it dosn't receive a signal from the video card. | tweak'e (69) | ||
| 375798 | 2005-07-27 06:00:00 | Monitor should come up with Cable not connected message, if it is going, and can't recieve computer signal. Trevor :) |

| 375799 | 2005-07-27 06:14:00 | it could be a lose connection try fiddiling around with it some more also try taking your graphics card out (which is a peice of ****) and pluging it back into the mobo if that doesnt work well looks like that will teach you for buying second hand | Mr_Rain313 (7944) | ||
| 375800 | 2005-07-27 06:24:00 | Monitor should come up with Cable not connected message, if it is going, and can't recieve computer signal. Trevor :) quite a lot don't. they won't display anything untill they receive a signal. tho often the adjustment controlls will work (displays the OSD) confirming part of the monitor is working. |

| 375801 | 2005-07-27 06:24:00 | If it's getting no signal, then it will power down to standby mode, where the status LED will usually turn orange/red or blink. (when this happens, you may well hear a click). however it could be that a fault has developed and the protection circuitry is shutting it off straight away to prevent further damage or to stop the whole thing going up in smoke. When you unplugged it, which end did you unplug? check both ends - also, perhaps the power lead got broken somehow.... |

I have to admit to buying a new monitor once, a KTX 14" :) What a disaster! Otherwise only ever bought second hand from Turners, have four excellent Compaq S700s'. Good 17" second hand monitors can be quite cheap these days. |
