| 376187 | 2005-07-27 20:06:00 | For a while I have had a issue with Open Office AutoSave feature, like right now as I type this I am writing in open office, but then the AutoSave windows pops up with three options (read the problem below) but for me I do not want to save this document as soon it will appear on pressF1 forum, as each new version comes out I ask have they fixed it yet? If anyone has any more/better comments I could add them in to the bug fix report . To comment on the following update, log in, then open the issue: . openoffice . org/issues/show_bug . cgi?id=52554" target="_blank">www . openoffice . org ----- Original Message ----- There seems to be a problem with auto-save pop up window . both the "no" & "cancel" buttons do the same job, So while there is three options given on the pop up window only two work . This is how I think it should work, "Yes" means you want to save it "No" means you don't want to save it this time, remind me later (what ever time you set) "Cancel" means no I do not want to save it on this document and don't ask me again, while I have this document open . There could be two ways to fix this problem, (1) edit the code, (2) or add a option to the "floppy disk" icon, were you could click it off/on with your mouse, Otherwise you could go into Tools > Options > Load /Save > General > AutoSave every . (tick / Untick ) But that is a right plain in the neck each time you open another document, and find you go to tick for save and it is already ticked . Keep up the good work, From Eric Richards erichards(at)clear . net . nz ------- Additional comments from ericrichards Wed Jul 27 11:16:49 -0700 2005 ------- Further to my first posting on using "beta version 2" as example "There could be two ways to fix this problem, (2)" PREAMBLE: The "AutoSpellCheck" icon (ABC with inverted red w) icon can be click on/off, making the background highlight while in "on" mode . SUGGESTION: Make the background of the "Save" icon (floppy disk) highlight-able . So we have the following options, (a) "save" icon not highlighted, lift click the "save" icon to save document on demand (as it works now) (b) Right click the "save" icon to highlight/not-highlight icon (new feature suggestion) to turn AutoSave off/on . So while the "save" icon is highlighted the program has "AutoSave" mode switched on, while the "save" icon is not highlighted the program has "AutoSave" mode switched off . END: This way as you are writing at a document you can see a glance whether the AutoSave feature is switched on or off, without having to go to Tools > Options > Load /Save > General > to find out . |
