| 376595 | 2005-07-29 03:41:00 | I have just installed a new DVD ROM drive, and a DVD RW drive. When I load a CD or DVD into either drive they wont auto play. I have to double click the drive in My Computer and then the CD will start up and play. A CD plays ok in real player when double clicked. A DVD will not play in real player for some reason - I get an error message sugesting lowering the screen reolution etc. Works OK in my laptop using the same disks, program and screen res, so I can't see that being the problem. I can get a dvd to play using the powerDVD program that came with the drive, but the video and sound is very jumpy, hesitating every second or so. Running on WinXp pro, pentium4 2.4ghz, 500meg mem. Any ideas please. |

And what brand of motherboard have u got?? You cld try highlighting either cd, and properties/autoplay tab . And check whether either are running in PIO mode . In device manager IDE ATA / Atapi controllers . Under primary and secondary IDE Channel . Or if u have Nero, use Infotool, configuration tab . See if the dvds are on DMA or PIO mode . |
