376803 2005-07-29 21:20:00 I am new here so first of all, hello to everone,
I have a problem in that, i have a slave connected but it won't show in My Computor, it shows up in BIOS and in device manager.
I have all my downloaded files in that drive, it was previously formated before entering any files.
All connections tested ok, i have uninstalled it and let windows find it again, but still doesn't show in " MY Computor "
It just dissapeared all of a sudden, any thoughts ?
Thanks

376804 2005-07-29 21:27:00 Hi and welcome to Press F1

Can you give us more info please... what Operating Sytem are you using, what happened just prior to your harddrive disapppearing (i.e what changes you made just before it disappeared), what hardware are you using?
Also what file system (ntfs, FAT32) are you using for your harddrive and your O/S

376805 2005-07-29 21:37:00 Hi - that was quick, thanks.
I am running XP sp2 in a pent4, i really can't recall anything at all, prior to this happening.
just went for it and it was gone, file system NFTS, the both drives are 80 gigs seagates and both worked well before this problem.
Thanks

376808 2005-07-29 21:49:00 You're not using something like TweakXP are you??

Look in control panel / admin tools / computer management / disk management.

Does the slave show up here?

376809 2005-07-29 22:00:00 C only shows up there, down the bottom of page the slave shows up as unallocated drive with a red cross.
thanks

376810 2005-07-29 22:03:00 You may have to format it thru disk management, if it shows unallocated .

Only thing is, if it HAD something on it, it wont be there after .

Then it SHOULD show up after u format it .

You did set it to slave on the jumper at the back of the hdd didnt u??

376812 2005-07-30 00:07:00 Hi Guys,
Just before i format that drive, i wanted to tell you what the device manager says, Device Statis
This Device is working properly
Device type - Disk drive
Manufacturer [standard Drive]
Location 0 [0]

down at the very bottom of the page, its blank in device usage.[ not enabled ]

Being location "0", does that sound like settings ? or will i go ahead and format the drive ?
Thanks for all your help.
