377504 2005-08-02 03:26:00 I am going to reformat my son's PC, and reinstall Win98 (SE? ... not sure).
Can it still be updated via the MS website or is it no longer supported?

Thanks

Steve

Looks like this is where the updates are.

We have been debating whether to get him a cheap upgrade box, costs $400 + GST, at pbtech.co.nz ... but then have to add WinXP (putting Win98 on a new system would be too painful but guess I could do it), so the cost adds up fast... and then there is always the possibility that there will be conflicts with his printer and scanner.

BTW, He has a beautiful iMac (with a killer wide screen I would love to pinch) for his AUT Graphic Design course, so the old PC is just for email and web research.

377508 2005-08-02 12:11:00 August is the date for 98 support to end,but there's still great updates available. I
think they're stopping 'criticals' but still doing patches, hot fixes and all the 'old' stuff
like the shutdown patch is still there.Couldn't access the Anti Spyware or Worm
Blaster on this.ME's days are numbered too.
