377058 2005-07-31 10:45:00 Here are the numbers:

Part No: PSA33A-5CLR4

SERIAL No: 14343654k

There is a ATI graphic card sticker on it!
Ring the Toshiba Service Centre with the above info and they should be able to help you. Using the serial number, they'll know the exact specifications, when and where it was bought first time, whether it was or not a foreign model, etc. I have found them very helpful over the past... nothing like the people Dell employ.

You will most likely be speaking to a.... uh... *cough* Australian, but they will have all the information you need [+ a bit of "i=e, e=i" accent] :p

377059 2005-07-31 11:46:00 Thank you folks for your suggestions.

Have downloaded from the Canadian site for Satellite A30 PSA33C model (rather than the actual A30 PSA33A , as on the back of the unit) and all the devices are working fine.

Thanks again for all the ideas.

Cheers

377060 2005-07-31 11:48:00 If there is a ATI Graphics sticker on it, you will be far better off installing the
ATI genuine drivers available here (support.ati.com)

The one download supports all ATI Radeon chips, the performance is almost certainly to be better than the Toshiba ones (if they exist, they probably use the ATI standard drives as well)

377061 2005-07-31 11:58:00 Have you actually used those drivers on a mobile chipset?

No official ATI drivers I have tried have installed and have had to use the Omega drivers.

Sorry that was the wrong link (for normal desktops not mobiles)

I have used the Catalyst Mobility 5 . 7 Drivers on a couple of Laptops with no problems, they are available from here ( . ati . com/ics/support/default . asp?deptID=894&task=knowledge&folderID=27" target="_blank">support . ati . com)

However I see ATI only officially support them for a few manufacturers (clevo being the ones I have used them on) and some other brands lesser known here in NZ .

I made an assumption that all notebooks using ATI graphics would be automatically compatible with this driver chipset (they are, once you can get them installed ) installation apparently can be a problem in some cases, thus the need for a modification in the way the driver is installed .

The "driverheaven installation mod tool" is available here ( . driverheaven . net/patje/" target="_blank">www . driverheaven . net) with this tool you can use either the Desktop or Mobile drivers .

Otherwise continue using the Omega versions like you are doing .
