| 377599 | 2005-08-02 08:25:00 | Please can someone tell me if you can set up a hyperlink from an excel spreadsheet containing contact info to open a new email. I know that I can hyperlink direct to a web address but I can't seem to just link to open a new email. Thanks | NZSally (8646) | ||
| 377600 | 2005-08-02 08:31:00 | In Excel 2003 it's insert > hyperlink > and one of the options is email address You don't say which version of office you are using Or try selecting a cell and using Ctrl-K and typing something like: mailto: mailaddress@name.com? (mailaddress@name.com) |

In xl2003 you can type the address in directly into a cell and a hyperlink will be created by default. Tip: If you want to send an email to multiple addresses then you can use a comma to separate the addresses. example.... mailto:name1@myisp.co.nz,name2@myisp.co.nz |

A Hi, I think you misunderstood me - you dont type the mailto part in xl2003 either. The mailto is in regards to either Insert|Hyperlink for a new one or Edit Hyperlink for an existing hyperlink. There is a difference between what the hyperlink displays in the cell and its mailto property. Its just if you enter a mail address in a cell it populates the hyperlink mailto property with the typed value so both the display name and the hyperlink target are the same but they dont have to be. You could for example have text "Bulk Mailout" in the cell and have a hyperlink email to several people under the hyperlinks properties. |
