377048 2005-07-31 07:46:00 This friend of mine bought a Toshiba Notebook - Satelite A30 second hand. He reinstalled Windows XP Pro but the display, sound, modem drivers are not detected by XP. Downloaded the drivers from Toshiba NZ's website but could not be installed. Error: A software occurred. Please report this to Technical Support: Cannot install Intel(R) graphics driver on current graphics device.

And, for the sound driver, installation was Ok but there's not sound. After installation of the Modem driver, nothing seems to happen.

I ran DriverTool kit program and it detected different display card - downloaded the driver as recommended by DriverTool Kit, but installation failed halfway.

Any ideas, please

Install the chipset software installation utility. This might fix it

Note there is more than one driver for each componente. You need to get the right ones.
Download and run Everest on the laptop - it should tell you exactly what chipsets it is using.

377051 2005-07-31 08:02:00 Pretty unusual for XP not to detect so may devices
Didn't the Lappy come with a recovery CD or with a recovery partition?
Contact Toshiba NZ and se if you can get a replacement CD
I had a quick gawk at the drivers list and they all seem to be there
Didn't download the 2000 drivers by mistake did you? Surely not.

Yes, that's the site I downloaded those drivers.

Installing this chipset software but with the following error:
"The Intel(R) Chipset Software Installation Utility requires a supported chipset platform running on a supported operating system. Check the System Requirements section of the README.TXT file for more information."

377053 2005-07-31 08:06:00 Speedy, you cant link from SessionIDs.

The file should have been "A30DispXP.exe"

But if the laptop was not from the Asia-Pacific area originally, it could possibly have variations in the hardware to what is expected from that site.

Unfortunately, he bought it without any CD's at all. There's only one partition "originally" and because of serious problems, he has reformatted the HDD and everything is gone!

Downloaded the correct XP drivers.

This DriverGuide Toolkit detected the display card as ATI 9000. Could it be the previous owner has changed those hardwares?

Cheers

According to the specs the graphics are Intel not ATI
As for changing the hardware, not unless they changed the motherboard which would be almost impossible and certailny uneconomical
But like GF has pointed out it may be an overseas model which may sport different hardware

What are the system ID codes on the bottom of the Lappy?

377056 2005-07-31 09:09:00 Hi there,

If you still come unstuck you can always use the Toshiba Canada website they seems to have loads of drivers that the Oz/NZ one does not. it can be found at www.canada.ca

Or you can call Toshiba for a copy of the replacement cd's the cost is $29 for cd and $49 for DVD. You will need teh exact model no off of the base of the laptop when ordering the no is 0800 445 439.

Good Luck :nerd:

Here are the numbers:

Part No: PSA33A-5CLR4

SERIAL No: 14343654k

There is a ATI graphic card sticker on it!
