2005-08-04 09:49:00 | Hiya . I'm needing a little help setting up a website . Well it's not su much the website, that's all set up and working properly, it's the domain . I've got hosting with a webhosting company, and access my site via a subdomain . I've registered a . net . nz domain through Orcon, and would like to get them working together . Easier said than done :waughh: The hosting domain is edward . shockv2 . com, so what should I set in the domain panel to get it to work? The 2 name servers are ns1 . orcon . net . nz, and ns2 . orcon . net . nz . Currently I have to CNAME records set up, www to the main site, and files to an Orcon address . But if I try to go to the domain, I get a helpful CPanel "No page configured" error . If I try to send an email to the redirect address, that dosen't work either Is there anything else I should add to get it to work? All help appreciated . Thanks, Edward :)

Just had injections, and they are not fun. Been having that What the hell was I just smoking feeling all day and will continue to do so for the rest of the week. Fun....." |

2005-08-04 22:20:00 | http://edward.shockv2.com/ works fine for me (firefox linux too) However, i get the feeling you want to point a domain name you havn't told us about at this service? Am i right? If so you'll have to configure your host server to server pages for your secret domain (go on tell us!!!!) and have Orcon point the domain at the server, or do it cheap and set up a referal page that redirects viewers to http://edward.shockv2.com/ from your secret domain. I do that with my spare domain www.something.net.nz , which opens a page on one of orcons free websites. It's actually got the orcon site in a frame the size of the page, but the loacation bar shows my domain name.

2005-08-05 04:38:00 | I realise that works, but http://www.edward.net.nz/ (the domain) dosen't (Should've posted the link before- sorry!), rather it gives a CPanel error. Pinging it dosen't help much, so any ideas to what it could be? I've tried changing the redirect from CNAME to TXT to see if it works. Odds are it won;t, so if the domain works you'll know it does :D

2005-08-05 06:07:00 | Why didnt you register the domain where your site is hosted or you could just move it there. Or tripple check from the Orcon end that it is pointing to "edward.shockv2.com

2005-08-05 06:25:00 | Do you know if shockv2.com has a resell account or has he/she just got a normal account? If shockv2.com has a resell account then have you ask them what name servers to use? If Not then you may need to pay for some hosting or find some free hosting or ask them how you can get your domain name pointing to there servers Hope this helps :)
