378284 2005-08-06 22:44:00 Surprised nobody has mentioned how a optical wireless mouse can chew up batteries. Run a DSE optical (A4)for about 3 years with no problems FrankS (257)

You can get wireless mice (and keyboards) which last for ages on a set of batteries. My MS Wireless mouse goes for about 4-6 months on the same set of batteries. :) Jen (38)

378288 2005-08-07 13:08:00 Have had a Microsoft Wireless Intellimouse Explorer over four years. Use rechargeable batteries. Can use it on many different surfaces and at a distance from the computer e.g.from the opposite side of the room. Three side buttons as well as two on top. Good weight. Love it. Cost a bit when I bought it but well worth the $$. katharinem (3459)

If the mouse came with a cd it will have setting on your computer.
