| 377624 | 2005-08-03 00:21:00 | got a system running nero 6, it's the basic package. I'm having this problem and I can't figure it out. I was running everything just fine, but the other day I went to burn a CD and nero told me that my DMA on the burner was disabled and it would affect the performance, I went to the DMA Manager in nero and put the check mark in the box and restarted like it said but when it restarted same thing. I checked the device manager properties but didn't see anything there for DMA control like previous copies of windows. Anybody got any idea's on this one, and stumped and can't seem to find much online about it. | jsova (8647) | ||
| 377625 | 2005-08-03 00:33:00 | In XP the DMA settings are configured for each controller instead of for each device. >Right click My Computer >Properties >Hardware >Device Manager >Expand "IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers" >Select the IDE channel your Burner is on, (probably IDE2) go >Right click >Properties >Advanced Properties >Configure either Device 1 or 2 depending which one is your burner If you dont have My Computer on your Desktop go >Control Panel >Administrative Tools >Computer Management. >System Tools >Device Manager >Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. >Select the controller that you you want to configure >Advanced Settings >Configure the device |

| 377626 | 2005-08-03 00:59:00 | I go into there and it says that it's currently in PIO Mode but DMA if avalible in selected going to check the bios .... Went through my BIOS settings and found nothing to change it from PIO to DMA it seems like its all auto protect :( any idea's, this didn't used to be like this and the case has never been opened since this issue began i'm getting fustruated.... |

| 377627 | 2005-08-03 01:22:00 | In the BIOS (under the cd drives/burner entry - press enter on the cd / ide device entry), does it give u an option for DMA?? This is where the DMA option is. |

| 377629 | 2005-08-03 01:30:00 | I did a reset to default settings just as a fluke and still no luck, the hardware screen on boot detects the drive as ATA 33 but the CD-ROM connected to the same cable comes up as DMA 5 i belive I know it's detecting as DMA | jsova (8647) | ||

| 377631 | 2005-08-10 12:53:00 | attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the controller with no luck, my friend who's pc it is wants me to just format it and start over but I'm not sure if that will resolve the issue so I don't wanna blow his windows away just to have the problem come back. | jsova (8647) | ||
| 377632 | 2005-08-10 13:10:00 | I found a registry tweak that fixed this same problem I had a while ago. Here (www.michna.com) (scroll down to Re enable dma using registry editor) As per all registry changes, back up first and hold your breath. |
