2005-08-05 01:29:00 | Each time I start my PC and run Spybot I get the following result: Under Security Risks heading it shows: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center\AntVirusDisableNotify!=dword:0" and "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Security Center\FirewallDisableNotify!=dword:0" Under 2 entries heading it shows: "Registry change" (alongside both above entries) Can someone please tell me how/if I can permanently delete these? "Fix problem" in Spybot works, but only for the current session. When I next switch on both are back again. Thanks.

2005-08-05 01:42:00 | Don't worry about it. Its a bug in Spybot. | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2005-08-05 01:49:00 | either that or you have windows xp service pack 2 and someone has disabled notification of antivirus/firewall settings in your 'security center' ......check control panel/security center..... | drcspy (146) | |
2005-08-05 01:52:00 | At a guess (I don't use XP), go into the MS Security Centre (Control Panel?), and choose to notify if either your AV or firewall are deactivated. It's really just pointing out a possibility to you, ie, a virus or some other malware may be able to disable your AV or firewall (windows firewall only?? useless piece of junk anyway). Some malware will go for AV and firewall programmes first in an effort to have free reign of your PC.

2005-08-05 06:51:00 | This is not a bug in Spybot because it is detecting actual changes in two Registry settings. The effects of the changes are that on access virus scanning is turned off and the McAfee firewall is similarly disabled. As already stated, Spybot has no difficulty correcting these settings, but the problems reappear at each start-up. What I'd really like to know is where these things are hiding so I can get rid of them. Thanks. | k8smum (6062) | |

2005-08-05 07:47:00 | and..............as was said on that forum that link led to: Spybot is reporting that the "Microsoft Security Center" for the XPSP2 Windows Firewall has had a registry change that has disabled it from notifying me when either thing is disabled. I have the Security Center set that way on purpose and have had it set that way since I installed it back in September............like to point out that TWO of us have already said that............ | drcspy (146) | |
