Our old HP multifunction printer up and died, so in the market for a new one.
I'm looking for some advice here - I've got a few requirements, and some things I don't need.
We run the accounting stuff for our business (a car valet) from home
We home school so lots of resources are photocopied
I print invoices etc, my wife uses the photocopy function often
We print maybe max 50 copies/prints per week
Colour nice but would prefer laser for running costs and qualtiy of print
Need 10/100 port
Don't need WLAN
ADF nice but not essential
Fax would be nice
Don't care about a colour LCD display - have no intention of printing photos
Camera card reader handy but not essential.

Has anyone here purchased one lately to these specs?
I read the April issue of PCW, which helped as it showed the huge difference in print times, but I'd prefer to spend around $500 on a unit. I realise I may have to go to inkjet to stay in this price range.
Any help would be great, thanks.

378324 2005-08-05 00:43:00 If photos are not a problem, because this printer CAN do them, but has a little trouble with the thicker stock for the prints, then I recommend the DELL 962 AIO .

It can fax, copy and print without even having the 'puter on, but it also has a scanner and seperate black and color cartridges so you don't waste the colors trying to print black .

I just wish the photo print paper didn't have to make such a sharp turn to get into the print area, as the feeders have trouble pushing the paper in . . . and it jams all the time .

If one puts a little curl on the leading edge of the photo papaer, and pushes to help the feeders, then all works 100% . . . but the engineers screwed up here . If you can live with this part, as you said no photos work is involved, then go for it .

No other problems are noted, and like I said, except for that one design glitch, it is a really good and fast unit . :nerd:

378325 2005-08-05 00:48:00 That Dell is just a Lexmark with a Dell badge on it.

Lexmark would not be considered a "top end" printer in NZ (being conservative in that statement). Probably in the same quality bracket as Brother.
