2005-08-05 09:05:00 | Thanks for the info. Yes, that does sound as if your AVG has a mind of its own... (I've visions of a tiny angry hobgoblin in the box saying:"I'm darned if I'll let that go yet." Haven't offended any witches/wizards recently, have you?)

2005-08-05 11:44:00 | I would completly uninstall AVG, then reinstall and dont use the default options, make sure you dont select the email scan option. It's probally worth a second chance, so give that a try, failing that pick something else.

2005-08-06 02:35:00 | Hi Folks, I have to confirm that I too have had terrible trouble with AVG and email. I had used it fine for over a year, up until I had to renew it and upgrade to the latest version (7.1 I think ...), then the problems started. It seems to "trap" sent emails somewhere. In my case, (I use Pegasus mail and Windows ME), it would trap them and never release them. I would send a batch of emails and they would appear to go, then a couple of days later, I'd get an email from AVG, saying they had been "undeliverable". I wrote to AVG (they have a tortuous customer service system, BTW), and got some grumpy advice back, which I folowed, but it didn't help. In the end, I just uninstalled it. I'll give Avast a go next. I definitely think AVG have some serious problems they need to work on. Joe Davies

2005-08-06 04:16:00 | Use Rob99's advice - I spent ages trying to get it to work with Email - gave up, reinstalled a custom version, no problems since. The AVG forum gives plenty of advice on this if you feel it is neccessary. | Peter H (220) | |
2005-08-07 04:41:00 | Is there a possablity that the emails are being held up at the isp end? Yes, that is a possibility. It was me that Beetle was sending the email to and I do sometimes have a bit of a delay receiving emails from Xtra users. That email was a particularly late one, however. Sometimes I have trouble sending emails to other Xtra users as well - one email did not show up at all but as it contained a virus being sent to a Linux user for examination it may have been nabbed by Xtra's filters.

2005-08-12 05:41:00 | Ok i reinstalled this program. after doing the uninstalling and resetting up etc, was working fine. thought i had got rid of probs but now the incoming are lagging, timing out and mailwaher throwing a hissy fit too. Today since lunch time i have been trying to download 3 messages, each time i end up disconnecting from the net as AVG sits on it and tells me how slowly it is dowloading it???? It is set to not scan on outgoing mail, but the message i sent this morning is still sitting in OE outbox, Why is it so slow? its only text emails...... I feel like uninstalling the prog and finding another prog again... even when i quit AVG, the email scanner still pops up so i cannot download this lot of emails with AVG being on? machines oh they so fun, with all these lovely progs in em. beetle
