2005-08-05 06:09:00 | can you not turn off AVG email scanning? | Prescott (11) | |
2005-08-05 06:13:00 | Bite the bullet and buy Nod32, it's only $70 per computer. Not only is it the best antivirus, but it takes care of lots of other spyware/trogens/mailware as well. You can even have it email your computer tech when it detects a virus.

2005-08-05 06:24:00 | I know the free one are good on the pocket and many do a fair job on the anitvirus front as well, but you are running a business, what would happen if a virus infestation had you computer down for a couple of days getting fixed. Sounds like you are already haveing issues with AVG, and many(me included) will tell you it is one of the best free antivirus products. All comes down to how much value you put on a stable computer.

2005-08-05 06:40:00 | Seperate computers, all work progs (booking in, bank link) go through office puter - Lime . Avg does not have to send emails from work puter, just kept up to date when doing banklink stuff online . run ZA as well on this . all emails go to Peach . and all surfing is done on peach, all play time is on peach . everything else is done on peach . Games are on lemon . I try and keep every thing seperate so o can access emails when work puter turns up its toes, or work puter still books in people when emails go funny . It is not possible to keep work emails and personal emails seperate at this stage . so all on one puter . I have been caught that way before, so i dont keep all eggs in one basket as it were . if i was to buy a prog then its possible id have to buy at least two of it, for work and peach would i not to be legal? At this stage i have 3 free progs, while lemon is not currently accessing the net . :waughh: beetle

2005-08-05 08:21:00 | OK am sick of AVG not sending the mail when OE sends it... the lag is terrible, sometimes just minutes, sometimes hours, or days. Why bother scanning outgoing mail at all beetle. If you scan to prevent anything nasty coming in, there won't be anything nasty there to send out will there. Any possibility you have something up the fritz with OE? Have you googled for any similar experiences? Cheers Billy 8-{)

2005-08-05 08:42:00 | Go with AVAST, it is good. You will have to stop AVG's resident scanning, so as the two do not conflict. Either stop it via the AVG program, or stop it in the windows startup. When you install Avast, it will tell you it may conflict with AVG, as it see's it under the program files. There is only 2 things to do after installing, 1/ right-click on the blue i icon and select "merge" option 2/ right-click and select program settings. Click on the update and make sure they are both set to automatic. Also, under Update (connections), tick your appropriate box. Everytime you go online, Avast will check for an update, and if available, download it. They are smaller than AVG's. It also live scans for malware, if using P2P, email, web sites and instant messageing, as well as the usual monitoring. Of the two, I have found less problems installing Avast, than AVG 7.

2005-08-05 08:43:00 | I'm curious to know why you think AVG is the culprit here, beetle? I've occasionally had my Outlook Express emails help up, but usually assumed it was Xtra having a glitch or somesuch - never thought of AVG. So what are the symptoms which pointed you to that?

2005-08-05 08:59:00 | LOL well hit send and OE says sent even comes up in out box, with time sent (correct time sent) AVG fires up later .... last night i sent a fairly non urgent email, but wanted a reply from the person who was online at the time. she received it this morning when i fired up peach and got online and i saw AVG send it..... i had been online for hours after this original email was sent. But she got it this morning, with the time date / stamped sent last nite? So im presuming it was avg, as it has been doing that a bit lately. and im wondering if this is causing some mail to not get through at all? Like i had three calls this week to say no email received??? when OE says they gone? maybe im just not supposed to be in charge of a computer cause i always manage to stuff it up no matter what. :illogical beetle
