378307 2005-08-04 19:24:00 The moment I connect my PC (P-III with 256 MB RAM) with internet through dialup line
Popup messages WILL start appearing . All of these messages are almost of the same type . The popup
messages are from www . reg-fix . com, or www . freereg . com bla bla . The moment I close this popup
either through Alt+F4 or by pressing the "X" symbol, it will reapper, and then may be after two
or three minutes these messages will again start bombarding my machine . As a result the performance
of the PC drop downs and then I have to restart it, as every thing get freez .

In last 10 days I reinstalled windows 2000 professional more than in last 14 years .
I deleted the partitions, again installed windows, and before connecting to Internet installed a fresh copy of anti virus,
I used online scan bt nothing worked

Then I stopped the messanger service and those annoying popups stopped appearing .
I was happy and got relaxed . But still I have performance problems . When I connect my comuter
to internet, the performance will be Ok in first 10-15 minutes, but then things will start behaving
slowly until the PC is freezed and I have to restart the computer . At times even the LogOff does not
work .

Another problem that I have observed is "The Yahoo Mail Problem" . when I compose a new message
and press the send key, the empty compose screen reappears, while the sent box confirms that
the mail has not been delivered to its destination address . Note that I have configured my Yahoo
Mail to keep a copy of the outgoing messages in the Sent Folder .

I am using windows 2000 with SP4, while I upgraded my IE from version 5 to IE6 SP1 .

COULD ANY ONE HELP ME, BELIEVE ME THAT THE PERSON WHO WILL HELP ME IN THIS REGARD IS
ELIGIBLE FOR FREE DINNER AT DAMAN-E-KOH (A COOL PLACE) FOR A FREE DINNER, PROVIDED
YOU ARE LIVING IN ISLAMABAD .

378309 2005-08-04 20:29:00 Do you have a firewall installed? If your connection is slowling down after a few minutes this could indicate unwanted traffic leaving your computer (eg spyware calling home, trojan activity etc). A firewall will alert you to what program is trying to gain access to the internet.

Welcome to PressF1 as well :)
