379158 2005-08-07 07:57:00 I have a photo that I want to create a speech bubble on and enter text.
The photo was taken on my Canon Powershot A75.
I run Windows XP and have Irfanview 3.95. To start with the photo was too big so I experimented with re-sizing. It seemed that I could not do this through Windows Explorer or Paint so eventually I did using Irfanview. Tried to do a speech bubble with each program but could only do a rectangle with Paint which is not very exiting for what I want to achieve.

How can I readily draw a speech bubble please that I can insert text into.
Thanks in anticipation
Misty :nerd:

379159 2005-08-07 08:03:00 Hi Misty, you really need a photo/paint program to do it. There have been a few threads about good photo programs on here but if you need it done quickly PM me and I'm sure I could add the bubble and/or text if you want to e-mail me the pic. (as long as it's fairly 'tasteful'!) Shortcircuit (1666)

The Picture Resizer is an add-in that needs to be downloaded and installed.

379163 2005-08-07 08:45:00 Hi Misty. Using Word 2003, on a blank page open AutoShapes and the CallOuts. Select a suitable CallOut, angle it's appendage, insert some text and then Copy.
Open you picture in Paint and Paste then Save.
You might need to play around the get the appendage at the right angle, etc., but it works.

379165 2005-08-07 08:56:00 Ha. Sorry. I too have '97 but it is on its original CD in a drawer. Have used 2000 since and of late 2003 and my old brain does not reach back to using '97 - which I did with some pleasure for some years. In simple terms - I've forgotten. Scouse (83)
379166 2005-08-07 09:14:00 this (download.microsoft.com) will resize your photos alot easier, its a powertoy for winxp, all you have to do is right click and resize image. simple. Prescott (11)

Hi Prescott
Thanks for that - I have downloaded "Powertoy" on blind faith - knowing that you would not steer me wrong. It may help in other situations, though I have already re-sized in Irfanview, so not sure yet what differences, if any, there may be !

If "Foxy MX" had suggested downloading "Powertoy" then I would be quite apprehensive about what might be the end product !! It does sound suggestive !!

Anyway, my immediate problem is to produce a speech bubble and apart from the very kind offer by Shortcircuit to do it for me there is no solution as yet. Whilst I may take up the offer by Shortcircuit there is no solution better than doing it yourself
