378943 2005-08-07 00:17:00 I feel pretty stupid posting this, because I am sure no-one else will have had this problem, so no-one will be able to help! Here goes anyway:-
When I first started using the program. I noticed in the Options, Advanced section that it had a lot of file types listed, but amazingly not *doc. So I added this anyway.
I have set it to scan my D drive where My Documents reside with heaps of doc files, but although it indexes other folders on my D Drive, it doesn't seem to index My Documents properly. It goes through all the files during the indexing as it shows these being done, but on searching for files later, it doesn't find them!
Thanks if anyone can help.

378944 2005-08-07 02:35:00 By default, CDS only indexes the file types that it recognizes. You can specify additional file types to index from the "Advanced" tab of the "Options" window of CDS. You can choose whether you want to index only the file properties (name, date, size, etc.) or to index the files as text files.

What version of Windows are you using? I ask becauseuUnfortunately, on-the-fly indexing of files is not technically possible with the Windows 98 and Windows ME perating systems. It is only available on Windows XP/2000/NT. Under Windows 98/ME, CDS performs a periodic rescan of your file folders to look for new and updated files.

378945 2005-08-07 11:10:00 I checked my settings on CDS and didn't have .doc included. I added it and now all the .doc files are found. I'm on XP but I don't see why earlier versions shouldn't index everything when you do a full update.

378946 2005-08-08 01:46:00 I've stopped CDS loading on startup because it's been stopping my Outlook 2003 backup working. Also it doesn't seem to pick up some folders I have, although the normal XP search finds them! Neil McC (178)

Well, I am flabbergasted ssssss, I would never have thought of checking that in a million years. You are dead right, and I have now added .doc extensions too.
Thanks for pointing out. Must have look now and see if by some bizarre coincidence I can help with your query !
