378948 2005-08-06 22:44:00 Good morning.

How do we find out whether the XP operating system on a computer has any or what Service Packs installed?

Advice appreciated.

378949 2005-08-06 22:47:00 Highlight My computer on the desktop / right mouse properties. Under general tab. It'll say Service Pack 1 or 2 here.

If not, SP1 or 2 aren't installed.

378950 2005-08-06 23:46:00 Thanks for the prompt reply Speedy. Under My Computer/Properties/General there is no mention of SP 1 or 2. Thank you for showing me how to locate this.
Best wishes,
Worl

378951 2005-08-07 00:11:00 No worries. SP1 or 2 should also appear in Control Panel / add or remove programs.

If either have been installed.

378952 2005-08-07 00:40:00 also control panel /system or msinfo32 tweak'e (69)
378953 2005-08-07 03:46:00 You can also use START>>RUN and type in winver and click the affirmative to get the same info .

Another way is to hold the WINDOWS KEY (with the little flag) and then hit PAUSE/BREAK .

BTW: if you instal SP-2 to XP-PRO, the splash screen will not show the "PROFESSIONAL" word under the XP when you look at the black screen that tells you Windows is starting .

Actually, the bestest way to see what you have as far as history of updates and HotFixes installed or actually SENT to you is to goto Windows Updates and click on the link for DOWNLOAD HISTORY to the left (in the tree area) after you get scanned by M$, and you'll get your 'puter's personal history of downloads .
