379181 2005-08-08 11:16:00 hi Misty. I actually use Snagit 7 for all such work. Howeer, it costs a few dollars. Get a 30 day free trial from here. (www.techsmith.com) . I've used since it was about version 2 and it is the greatest screen capture and editing package out there at the dollar level. :nerd:

Hi Scouse
I have downloaded Snagit but I fear I may be retired before I work out what to do. The core part (it seems to do exceedingly more !) looks like Paint. I have done something fairly passable in Paint (as Rob 99 suggested) and must go with that. If I leave it any longer the point will be lost because it is to thank a work colleague who has just left us. A picture of yours truly in a setting this person will appreciate (nautical) with some words of thanks.

Nigel -for some reason the Serif Photoplus homepage consistently refused to load tonight !

Anyway thank you all for your comments and attempts to help. It is a complicated thing sometimes to do something which appears inherently simple !
Misty :)

PS - loved the Helen and Don pic !! :p

Hi Misty.

I have Word 97, is the following of any help?

Putting a 'callout' shape in a Word 97 document.

Word 97 / Insert / Picture / Autoshapes / [an Autoshapes toolbar will appear] hover the mouse arrow over the last icon and it will show the word 'callouts'. Click on that callouts icon, then click on your choice of callout shapes that appears. Your pointer will change to a cross, place the cross in the word document, left click and the chosen 'callout' will appear. Type your words within the callout shape.

Thanks for the feedback . Glad it solved your problem . It was just that I am (un?)fortunate enough to be still using Word 97, so could check it out .

Actually, FoxyMX's post was so close that you were only one click away from success there too .

Cheers :)
