379206 2005-08-07 10:10:00 Does anyone know anything about this? Have been trying to help my brother figure out why his email keeps repeatedly receiving deleted messages- last count 172. They will not stay deleted. I asked about it in a thread a week or two ago. This Software thing arrived on his screen and thinking it was an update for one of his programmes, he clicked YES. Since then huge amounts of emails arrive every time he opens. Has contacted his ISP (e3) but they haven't been any help - he asked them to delete all emails. He has good antivirus up to date and daily checks, runs spybot and adaware regularly and has latest kerio firewall. Today I uninstalled Opera as he has been using that as a browser and for email, and signed him up with a totally different mail.com address advising him not to use his former email address and to stay out of Outlook Express - same 172 emails opened there too repeatedly after having been delted. Another strange thing - I thought a system restore would fix it going back prior to the date this Software Distribution thing arrived. Not one of the System restore points would work. Have checked mark all mail as read etc. Did a search and found a few comments about similar problems, on another forum where system restore did the trick. Would appreciate any help/advice. Thanks. katharinem (3459)
379207 2005-08-07 10:27:00 While I have very carefully read your post I can't actually help as yet.
To help I would need to know the ISP and what browser and email client is used.
Is this person using a web mail and leaving Email on the server?

379208 2005-08-09 09:47:00 From what I can tell, Software Distribution Service 2.0 is related to Microsoft Windows Update program.

I'm a bit confused with some of your comments. You said you uninstalled Opera which he was using for email, and also told him to keep out of Outlook Express? How is he getting these emails then? Is he using e3's web-based email? As Elephant suggested, has he selected to leave a copy of his email on the e3 mailserver? This could be behind the same emails being re-delivered. Are the 172 emails spam or just random regular mail from different contacts?

379209 2006-04-15 09:17:00 Hi,
Gosh, this is a very old thread . I hope someone will read it, cuz I REALLY need help! I have a similar problem with system restore and "software distribution service 2 . 0" .

I was online the night before and my I . E . froze after I clicked on a link . This happened a few times before, but this time I couldn't end/close it with "ctrl + alt + delete" . So being too sleepy and tired to wait OR THINK, I unplugged the USB adapter . Before I knew it, my whole computer crashed and failed to reboot . So I forced shutdown by pressing the power button .

This morning I had to reboot a few times before the computer finally restarted . However, it took like 5 minutes to load, and one of my programs quit working . I tried system restore the whole day, but none of the points work . Don't ask me why, but I also tried to reverse the last restore points just to see, and it didn't work either . And to make things more confusing, the "software distribution service 2 . 0" keeps on appearing as one of the restore points .

Does anyone have a similar problem or know anything about any of this??? If you find a solution, please let me know . I would really REALLY appreciate it .

Thanks!

379211 2006-04-26 07:44:00 SDS2.0 is used IT Administrators to deploy software to clients on a network. Sounds as though it has been used to install some sort of virus/spam SolMiester (139)
379212 2007-01-21 17:54:00 Hi,

I am new to this forum, but I am not sure if I am at the right place to get help as I see people with the same problem as I with no answer to their cries for help.

I also have the same problem with software distribution service 2.0 and I cannot do a system restore from that point on.

Please let me know what to do.

379213 2007-01-21 19:12:00 I recently had this problem and it seemed to be only after I had loaded System Defender . ZoneAlarm was dis adbled and the PC seemed to have been taken over by SDS 2 .

I removed System Defender and ZoneAlarm . Removed my System Restore dates and then rebooted .

It seemed that the problem went away .

I reinstalled ZoneAlarm and reset the system restore and haven't had th problem since .

It would appear that the problem arises when System Defender is installed and it activates the SDS 2 . I don't believe it is a problem but it certainly caused havoc with ZoneAalrm . I would be interested in feed-back from others .
