| 1389658 | 2014-12-06 21:10:00 | There are various ways to install 8.1 with a 8 Key. ( legal key, not hacked or altering files etc) Looking at Option 1, it does suggest the ISO you download will do just that - I can confirm the Download Tool provided certainly does download a ISO :) 6070 I'll let you know soon if a windows 8 key is accepted on a W8.1 ISO via that method. :) |

| 1389660 | 2014-12-06 22:43:00 | Just downloaded two ISO's, the 8.1 Pro, and 8.1 Standard - English -GB (OEM's are GB, not US) Just tried a Upgrade W8 key on the pro and it accepted it, same with the Other W8 OEM key on the 8.1 STD and that accepted it as well. Dont know what will happen if a person has a Laptop that has the W8 Product key embedded in the Motherboard. If it doesn't accept it automatically then it will prompt for a W8.1 product key, BUT there is no COA on laptops these days, so it would mean a W8 install first. |

| 1389662 | 2014-12-07 00:27:00 | The upgrade key I used was one of the ones that MS was selling cheap ages ago when W8 first Came out, it was the pro Version at the time. If you look at any of the OEM DVD's (system Builders etc) they are all English GB. Only the retails are US. Don't think it makes any difference if you use GB or US as long as its the correct key for the correct version, example is the W8 Pro N --- a normal W8 Pro key usually wont work on the N versions (N means no Windows Media Player, Music, Video, Skype). |
