1389252 2014-12-01 02:02:00 I used to have Winzip but it didn't install on W7 - what do others use to open zipx files please? Preferably free.... Bryden (4161)
1389253 2014-12-01 02:38:00 I think zipx was a proprietary format made by Winzip and will only work with that.
It has more advanced compression features than standard zip files.
You could try www.7-zip.org and see if that can open them.
Otherwise do you still have access to the old winzip system that you can change the zipx files to just zip?
I would use 7zip from now on regardless.

I had problems installing WinZip 18 on Windows 7. I started using 7-Zip in desperation. On 16 Nov 14 I received a email from WinZip offering me version 19 for free because I had purchased WinZip 18 within 30 days of WinZip 19 being released. I downloaded and installed version 19 with no problems.
