1375993 2014-05-27 07:32:00 I've just plugged in my old Vista lappie and in such a few months I forgot how archaic this unit is! I'm not only talking about the OpSys - I still like Vista, a lot, esp SP2, but the lappie itself. 15"6 screen. Crikey its... small! (keeping in mind I'm now into 17.3 territory)

Actually... it's kinda cutsie; with the klunky keyboard; small tablet-sized screen; narrow-spaced keys; tough opening switch; actual press-button on/off switch; everything-within-reach layout; not-too-cold to my wrists plastic palm rest; pleasant sounding fan operation to confirm all is well; light weight; knowing what is an F key vs an unknown F + something key.

This is a model recommended to me by our fine Jen. A great recommendation.

How come something so good, so compact, so useful, become overnight's garbage in its own userbag?

*Sigh* It used to be my baby. I used to know every nook and cranny and the whereabouts of any aspect of its innards. Long hours of toil and trouble have been dedicated to its use, along with huge amounts of support from PressF1 users.

Alas Yorick... I knew you well.

I now asign it to a new birth... El Minutiaea

1375994 2014-05-27 07:49:00 My favourite computer was the Commodore SX-64 way back in the olden days. I thought that it was powerful. :D

You can get the specs here www.vintage-computer.com

1375998 2014-05-27 08:04:00 Heh, Vista already being called retro. So what's Windows XP then I wonder ;)Of course XP was the dream of many. I don't think you were around when 2000 was the new revelation to many common users. I reckon - my opinion only, what Vista did what Win ME did to 8.xx, but better. Yeah? Greg (193)
1375999 2014-05-27 08:08:00 Meanwhile... I'm signing off from this oldie - and still damn happy with the performance.

Next posts will be from the shiny new thing, but with a great memory! Vista + Oldie lappie still works! :clap

1376000 2014-05-27 10:11:00 I still have my Asus Vista lappy... :p

Getting slower to load things, but still hanging in. What model laptop do you have now? The larger screen sounds nice.

I till remember having to go to work with husband for a few weeks, back in 1989....while his colleague was off on holiday.

So I could drive the laptop for him....which brand it was I don't remember, but it was green screen and ran DOS. Now that was a chunky laptop....at least a foot thick it seemed....

I offered my oldie to Winston when he was looking for something (which was recommended to me by you Jen) and I'm now glad he didn't accept it.
