1389401 2014-12-13 03:22:00 Works at last:)
I wiped the partitions, then recreated them, then did a long format on both.
Installed Windows Pro 7 and this time it worked.
I have seen posts about 'root kits', could this have been the problem?
Anyway, it is working well with 4GB = 2 x 2GB
Now I can stop wasting time!

1389402 2014-12-13 03:29:00 I suppose it's possible a boot-sector virus\rootkit could have been involved, funny that adding RAM to a working Windows installation would cause the crash though, unless perhaps the malware couldn't handle the extra RAM! Agent_24 (57)
1389403 2014-12-13 05:11:00 I see that Driver Detective also do a program that fixes root kits. I wonder if its good? The driver detective has proved very useful at times also Driver Backup. mzee (3324)
1389404 2014-12-13 05:15:00 No idea, but I think the best way to fix rootkits is what you already did. Agent_24 (57)
