1389344 2014-12-03 22:03:00 Read my first post. I deleted, the malware in safe mode so a restart is obvious.

One should always read the first post before replying, to avoid looking foolish.
So sorry [edited]. Lucky for you that you will never need help from me as I'm so foolish.
No restart after the safe mode removal was mentioned so that negates your point handily I think.
It would not surprise me, after eight years of supporting home users, and constantly hearing about how 'up there with computers' you users are, to find you running safe mode all the time.
Nothing surprises me now.

A moment or two's reflection BEFORE hitting reply sometimes results in fewer insults flying about, but by all means, fire away.

1389345 2014-12-03 23:39:00 CNET has replied,
Here is part of there email; In future, although you cannot avoid using a software publisher's own installer when downloading their program, if you prefer not to use the Download.com Installer, you can simply click the Direct Download Link that is provided on all Installer Enabled product pages.

Read more about that option here:

For more detailed information on the Download.com Installer, please visit the following resource:

You are the one making the insults, so I recommend taking your own advice. Now try reading my first post.

1389347 2014-12-04 00:14:00 No I won't bother now, or ever again, you are out as far as I'm concerned, calling people foolish is an insult you [edited]. KarameaDave (15222)
1389348 2014-12-04 00:16:00 OK folks - if you can't be nice then don't post it.

Vince, you are just as guilty (re self harm comment). If you come onto a tech forum saying how knowledgeable you are, then you are asking (right or wrong) to be taken down a notch if the evidence doesn't stack up.

If a poster is rubbing you up the wrong way, then the best action is to ignore them and that post.

All, no more insults please.

Vince, glad you got your problem sorted.

1389349 2014-12-04 00:22:00 .... Now try reading my first post.

from the first post
"I fixed it eventually by going to My Computer-C drive-programs and deleting it."

Thats why so many were trying to offer advice.
I wouldnt assume Avast & SpyBot got it all out : just some advice, not a dig or attack.

1389350 2014-12-04 00:25:00 Personally I have to agree with KarameaDave, he's a well respected member of these forums, and calls a a spade a spade. ( in other words says it like it is).

I've just gone back and re-read (again) the original post.

A few questions if you would care to answer them. ( I'm more curious than anything, not insulting)

1.Apart from posting in the help section, that you downloaded a program from Cnet which is meant to have infected your computer, then posted that you repaired it, and it was all you own doing what was the point please ?

2.If you know what you are doing - why on earth would you allow yourself to infect your Own Computer from a well known site that has such "extra's" in their downloaders / Installers ?

3. Lastly -- Assuming it was the program you downloaded and installed, why are you using "protection" that didn't stop it in the first Place - it was mentioned Avast was disabled (Original Post), obviously it must have failed in its workings ?

This is not a question, but a statement -- You don't have to start a computer in safe mode to stop those infections (That is only one way). There is software that will run in normal mode on infected computers when nothing else will, that is designed to do just that, stop the infections tasks (even when not showing in Task Manager).
What you should Also Know, is that many programs wont uninstall in safe mode, as they require the Windows installer. There are ways around that. :)

1389351 2014-12-04 05:52:00 exactly! - but this guy "knows what he's doing" since win98 ;)

and is always SO careful on the internet but doesn't know to avoid Cnet like the plague LMAO

Avast Webrep and Webutation both give Cnet and Cnet Download.com a pass, as safe. Many users do to.

There is no software that will run on a computer that is frozen. It wouldnt even restart. Only Ctrl Alt Delete would work. Read my latest post.
