Nonsense, there are lot's of things we don't suppress. Unfortunately, I'm not at liberty to tell you what those are. ;)

1376086 2014-05-28 22:17:00 I suggest the Police knew a hell of a lot more about the case than they let on. ;)

It looks to me like it was just a case of finding the body to ensure she was dead and not missing and then grab the guy. They even seemed to know exactly where to look.

As far as name suppression goes, I guess it isn’t that important in the big scheme of things if it ensures he gets a fair trial and doesn’t get off on a technicality or such.

I doubt Ewan McDonald would have been acquitted of Scott Guy’s murder if all his pending charges were known to the jury. :2cents:

1376087 2014-05-28 22:51:00 I bet this guy has a got a wrap sheet and is either out on bail or has done something nasty before and is on parole.

If the guy has a 'wrap sheet', he's about to be planted (permanently) and is no longer a risk.

If you meant 'rap sheet' of course, the boys in blue will be keeping him in secure board and lodgings, probably for the next 20 years or so once all's been said and done! However he was recently released after completing a previous sentence, and I can't believe that he was housed in such upmarket accommodation either. That was no 'down at heel' dive and the neighbourhood is upmarket, so if the late model car outside was his, he either has independent means, a master key, or a screwdriver. It was a BMW or a Merc, I can't remember which, I was too gob-smacked to remember!

Cheers

In these cases though previous convictions should be taken into account and not treating this crime as his first and giving him a slap on the wrist of a NZ life sentence of say 10 ~ 15 years . Life should be 99 years. If you go to traffic court all your previous convictions are brought up so it should be with criminal offenses..
