1389537 2014-12-04 07:57:00 I have been given a Toshiba L40 laptop. Upon booting laptop I am asked for a password.
Through investigations I have been told that the password is in the firmware of the hdd and that it cannot be removed. Is this correct and if it can be removed how can this be done. This small problem is the only thing wrong with the laptop. If need be I will bite the bullet and purchase another 2.5" 120Gb sata hdd.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

1389538 2014-12-05 07:46:00 Try removing the cover for the Ram and WiFi, on the bottom of the case. Look for "JRST1" on the PCB between the Ram and Wifi. Short out JRST1 and power up. Continue to hold the short until the L40 powers off again (bout 15 secs). Remove the short and power up again - the password should be gone. wuppo (41)
