1389463 2014-12-04 01:32:00 Hey you troops I know printers are toss away items but had just brought a couple of sets of print cartridges!
Have a Canon PIXMA iP3000 that keeps coming up with printer error and flashing amber light.
Have "cleaned" it with a leaf blower!
Replaced the USB cord.
Uninstalled and reinstalled.
Is there anything else can do before its dump time?
Thanks

1389464 2014-12-04 01:58:00 Google "Pixma iP3000 printer error Flashing amber Light". You should get some ideas that way. Otherwise replace it with the same model so you can still use your ink.

I did the same for my HP inkjet and was able to find out how to sort it out. Unfortunately in my case it is just as cheap to replace the printer as it is to fix it so that is what I shall do.

Thanks but this thing must be getting close to 10 year old - doubt there would be anything still sold with the same spec cartridges?!

1389466 2014-12-04 03:06:00 If you have tried the leaf blower, it may be time for the water blaster. Richard (739)
1389467 2014-12-04 05:02:00 How many flashes, as the number will be an indication of whats wrong.

Have a look at the service manual and see which error is displaying www.scribd.com

As a guess its either a print head fault ( not worth fixing due to the cost) or waste ink absorber is full.

You can try resetting the Printer and cleaning the absorbers, it sometimes gets a bit more life out of it: filetonic.com

1389468 2014-12-08 04:52:00 Dump it, printers are a dime a dozen, and hardly ever worth fixing. With your cartridges look up generic replacement cartridges for you printer on the net, most sites show a range of printers the cartridge is suitable for, mostly they will probably the same brand of printer.
ie www.inkvenus.co.nz You might be lucky!

1389469 2014-12-08 23:23:00 I was in the same boat earlier this year .
My IP3000 died, I still had unused spare carts.

I just had to bite the bullet & bought another (sort of similar) Cannon IP Printer . You wont get anything that uses those older unused ink carts
My recommendation, get a different brand, my new Canon replacement is no where near as good.
And expect to have to replace ALL of the starter carts that come with a replacement printer : so add another $60 onto the cost
