1376671 2014-06-07 02:25:00 With the Live Monty Python concerts getting close I still wonder why the Dead Parrot sketch is funny.

I loved them when they were on tv, and bought their books and videos.

But what is funny about the dead Parrot sketch ?

1376675 2014-06-07 03:38:00 I think part of what made their stuff funny was the way they presented it/said it.

You can't really analyse humour, if you do, it's not funny anymore.

Loved the parrot.....and assorted other bits they did.

I had a Monty Python game on the Amiga - the Spam gamelet was ridiculous but fun.

1376676 2014-06-07 06:19:00 Brings to mind the funeral of Graham Chapman (co-author of the Dead Parrot sketch) ... and the Eulogy given by John Cleese, who claimed to have been told by Chapman;

I [Chapman] was the first person on British Television to say the word 'sh*t". I want you [Cleese] to be the first person at a memorial service to say 'F*ck'

Eulogy followed by "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" (www.youtube.com)
