1375929 2014-05-26 07:24:00 Seems many here in NZ cannot use Netflix, as of about two days ago. See posts on this page. (support.unblock-us.com) Strommer (42)

1375931 2014-05-26 07:33:00 support.unblock-us.com Making it legal and available would solve so many problems. Mind you , little ol NZ prob isn't worth it to them. wainuitech (129)
1375932 2014-05-26 07:50:00 Sure would but the likes of Sky, TVNZ and Mediaworks will do all in their power to stop it.. paulw (1826)

It would be very unlikely that Sky, Tvnz or MediaWorks would try to stop it. Much more like the legalese of global broadcast licensing.

If more people in this country knew how to use Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime, Sky would be completely dead. The ONLY things Sky (also vodafone) has going for it is Sports (and a monopoly).
Telecom is going to launch a streaming service, and I bet it will be more expensive than the American options and will offer significantly less content.

Do you think any of these guys are happy about Netflix?

Now that both have switched to unlimited broadband plans they lose out even more to streaming services.

Of course this is just a theory, maybe it upstream 'net neutrality' BS.

That is exactly why some legit online streaming services arnt available in NZ. Other local companies (SKY etc) have the local broadcast rights.
They would do everything to try & stop it. A call (via lawyers) to Netflix & the producers/distributors of the shows will be all it takes.
This is SkyTv , TVNZ, TV3's source of revenue we are talkin about. Of course they will try & stop it.
