2005-08-11 09:46:00 | Hi I copy and pasted this from somewhere - forgetting the crossover cable bit as your on wireless, maybe this will help? get a crossover cable then plug the pc's together with that......set the 'secondary' pc in controlpanel/network connections .......right clik the local area connection and then goto properties/general and clik on tcp/ip/properties.........then set the ip addy as 192.168.0.2 .......and the subnet to 255.255.255.0......then under 'advanced'........'add'........the same numbers.....then clik ok etc...........and then also add in 'default gateway' 192.168.0.1 now go to the main pc and goto network connections and set it to ip addy for local area connection as ip 192.168.0.1 and subnet 255.255.255.0..........then goto www.analogx.com and get the program called 'proxy' this is FAR easier to use than microsofts internet connection sharing wizard.........once you have proxy installed on yoru main pc goto the 'secondary' pc and controlpanel/internetoptions/connectons tab.........set it to 'never dial a connection' then clik the LAN button......put a tick in 'use proxy server' then enter the number 192.168.0.1 and the port 6588 and you should be away laughin....................

2005-08-11 10:54:00 | Hi Manic . . I have tried to do that: with the settings below and no success yet? TCP/ip 2 . machine 192 . 168 . 0 . 2 255 . 255 . 255 . 0 192 . 168 . 0 . 1 Preferred DNS 202 . 27 . 184 . 3 (internet provider) Internet options: Never dial use a proxy server 192 . 168 . 0 . 1 6588 TCP/ip 1 . machine 192 . 168 . 0 . 1 255 . 255 . 255 . 0 192 . 168 . 0 . 2 Have you got any more idea? :( Thanks Gion

2005-08-11 11:05:00 | Hi Manic . . I have tried to do that: with the settings below and no success yet? TCP/ip 2 . machine 192 . 168 . 0 . 2 255 . 255 . 255 . 0 192 . 168 . 0 . 1 Preferred DNS 202 . 27 . 184 . 3 (internet provider) Internet options: Never dial use a proxy server 192 . 168 . 0 . 1 6588 TCP/ip 1 . machine 192 . 168 . 0 . 1 255 . 255 . 255 . 0 192 . 168 . 0 . 2 Have you got any more idea? :( Thanks Gion Hmm this TCP/ip 1 . machine 192 . 168 . 0 . 1 255 . 255 . 255 . 0 192 . 168 . 0 . 2 -> default gateway should be blank on the main PC . Because it is the gateway, to the networked PC . (192 . 168 . 0 . 2) . Umm, you've only got wireless not ethernet as well?? If u only have wireless then there wont be a crossover cable . Does file sharing work? If u want to share a folder? The workgroup the same?

2005-08-11 11:10:00 | Hi Speedy, thanks I have changed to your suggestion and will try it in a minute. File sharing and internet works ok as long the 1. machine is on. I would like to be able to get access from the 2. machine!! Force the dial up process? Does that sound achievable? Gion

2005-08-11 11:17:00 | Are u on dialup or broadband? Are we talking about a wireless network, or wireless internet?? It looks like this router is a broadband router? right?
Speedy Gonzales (78) | ||
2005-08-11 11:20:00 | Speedy It is dial up and wireless network and a broadband router as we wanted one that has the potential for the future. Gion
