379623 2005-10-23 09:55:00 Hi,

If think if you're going to invest in something like an MP3 player, make sure you choose one with good sound quality, good price and something that has a warranty .

Personally, 1 Gig is my recommendation . This should hold about 250 mp3 songs on average .

Firmware upgradable would be a good feature to have, though I wouldn't imagine mp3 changing so much that quickly that your mp3 won't be able to play them anymore .

Another recommendation is perhaps one that has FM RADIO as well . Gives you abit of variety when you get bored from listening to your songs .

Good site I've seen for MP3 players is: http://www . mediaplayers . co . nz . They provide warranty on their products too and their price looks very good .

Cheers

379625 2005-10-23 12:48:00 I do recommend a well know brand when purchasing at trademe.

Alot of mp3 players are cheap but are prone to have problems.China especially makes alot of mp3 players.Even though they are cheap they are likely to stuff up after a week or two.If you buy a known brand like iriver, creative, apple, sony, toshiba, samsung etc.. They are unlikely to cause problems.

Zen neeon is quite nice..I think I'll get 1 for myself

379626 2005-10-23 22:55:00 my impression is that things are often cheaper in the shop than on trademe. Check out www.pricespy.co.nz Dick smith has reasonable prices and they will still be there next week MACIAN (6176)

I will disagree with you Ninjabear on this one . It really depends which one you buy and who you buy it from . Not all MP3 players from Asia are of cheap quality and prone to problems . There are some really good ones too and ones that do OEM manufacturing for bigger brands too (like BenQ for instance) . Don't knock off an MP3 player because it's from China unless you've tried one . I've seen the Sony bean, it's nothing compared with some other models I've seen that have full colour LCD screens, movie playback and photo viewer too . Plus it's cheaper .

If you like some extra features, I think the ones from China/Korea/HK are a very good choice at a very good price too . Buy from someone that is reliable and backs up their products with warranty though as always .

Also, with the bigger brands like Sony for instance, what you buy is 'Sony-Only' stuff . So if there is a problem with it after warranty or u want to buy accessories, you will br charged quite abit because it's "Sony" .

Conclusion, I believe don't fully knock out the cheaper MP3s from China unless you've tried them and see for yourself what they have to offer . Not all are prone to problems . Bigger doesn't always mean they are always better .
