| 379915 | 2005-08-10 02:44:00 | I am still trying to improve my graphics. Radeon 9800 pro graphics card. I have at last solved why I get such a low 3d test mark. If I set my card manualy to maximum performance I get a score of about 2200, but I get quite a reasonable picture. But if I set the card to factory defaults I get a score of about 5830, but with a poorer picture. What does the 3dMark03 score actualy mean? Does it mean my graphics card is a heap of rubbish? Or is it my monitor at fault? No matter what I do I can not get a picture that comes close to satisfing me. |

Hey JJJJ, 3Dmark uses not just your graphics card but cpu to generate an artificial benchmark. For your card 2200 on high quality sounds not to bad. When I first rebuilt my system I installed 3dmark as the first peice of software (after drivers etc) I got around 4500 on a default setup. After I had set my machine up with all the associated guff that you use day to day I lost about 10% on that score. I dread to think what it would be now. 3Dmark is great for imperical testing. Reboot your machine and 3Dmark, making sure you run nothing else before it other than letting it boot to windows. Now Change one setting, update your drivers or whatever else you want to do. Reboot the machine again and compare scores. Only ever change one thing at a time. Whats wrong with your image quality? Why are you unhappy with it? |
