380659 2005-08-13 00:06:00 Hi guys

I sit with a 50 GB HD, partitioned into 4 drives - 5, 15,15,15. I want to combine on of the 15's with the 5 (the C drive), so that I do not run into the problem of low disk space. Is that achievable without reformatting the whole HD? XP, P4, 1.7 GHZ

380660 2005-08-13 00:13:00 Go into control panel / admin tools / comp management / disk management.

Delete one of the 15gb partitions. Since all of them belong to 1 hdd.

This would fix it I think? Other than that use Partitionmagic.

Just make sure if theres something on it to copy it to another partition.

If it isnt a program.

380661 2005-08-13 00:18:00 What about FAT32 and NFTS - I think the C is NTFS and the others FAT 32 - does that matter?

380662 2005-08-13 00:26:00 Use partition Magic (or something similar).
From memory Partition Magic will allow you to change the FAT32 partition to NTFS before you merge them. It should also merge the 2 partitions non destructively (though I would back up anything within those 2 partitions in case something goes wrong).

If Windows is on the C: drive then you will need to use Partition Magic or similar to merge the partitions without reformatting or losing data .

You will also need to use PM or similar to merge partitions that contain data .

If the partitions were both empty you could use Disk Management and delete two partitions then create one single partition with the free space . I have done that many times when rearranging my hard drives . Any data on them will be lost, however .

380664 2005-08-15 23:26:00 Got Partition Magic 8 from a friend yesterday - and lo and behold, my C;drive has increased to 11 GB - took me the best part of 5 minutes. Wonderful program. Thanks for the good advice.
