380636	2005-08-12 22:56:00	My Compaq Presario 2100 with XP has gone dead. The power on light comes on, but it doesn't look at the hard disk. The screen is completly blank and I can't get into the bios to get it to load from floppy. The hard disk is spinning when on mains power, but starts and then stops with a clunk when on battery power. 380638	2005-08-13 00:29:00	It doesn't do anything..ie, it doesn't look at the disk so it can't possibly load windows. The screen is totally blank, but the 'power on' light is on. I can't get the bios screen to check anything. It doesn't seem to go through the motions and the screen is blank. I thought that the bios is on a chip, not on disk so it should appear if the screen is ok. Do you agree? Thank, Arjay.	arjay (1202)
380639	2005-08-13 00:34:00	I had a very similar problem with my Compaq a couple of years ago. Turned out to be a faulty RAM stick. Is the laptop still under waranty? Try replacing the RAM and see if that fixes it. You won't get into BIOS or any boot with faulty RAM.	Sb0h (3744)
