| 382085 | 2005-08-18 08:55:00 | friends, I have a PC Company PC, solid NZ product, but making heaps of noise, in my opinion the ventilator. I can probably replace that damned thing, but someone told me that you then also have to replace the powerblock????? Is that right, how can I cheaply fix this?? Are these fans quite universal?? dick Smith thingie? I am not very handy in the box, but replaced a lot of PCI cards and added a second harddrive in this PC. Cheers Johan |

| 382086 | 2005-08-18 09:09:00 | depends on which fan. cpu fan is often easy enough to do. the power supply fan is harder to do. not always a good idea to be poking your fingers into 240 volt aera and i can't rember if they where a plug in fan or the cables solder in. personally if you have the $$$ replace the whole case powersupply and all. |

But you may need to do a bit of unsoldering/soldering depending how it's connected inside the PSU (power supply unit). If you go this route take care of static and other appropriate electrical safety precautions. |
