2005-08-22 04:19:00 | Im having problems with a minidump(xxxx) and sysdat.xml which is causing my computer to crash. Does anyone have any ideas as to whats causing this? Ive reinstalled Xp, updated drivers and such, yet I have this problem. Its really driving me insane. Ive lost countless projects due to this. I have to backup all my work every five minutes! Heres my specs. Windows Xp Pro Sp1 .net English Amd AthlonXp 2400+ (@2.0GHz) 512Mb Ram Intergrated network adapter ASUSTeK/Broadcom 440x 10/100 (disabled) Belkin wireless network adapter 802.11g Maxtor 6Y120Pd 120gig Harddrive NVIDIA GeForce Ti4800SE 128Mb I know I should upgrade my GeForce card, and put in another 512mb, but it works for me. Thanks for any help you can give. And if anymore info should be needed, let me know. Thanks again.

2005-08-22 04:53:00 | As a first step, test the memory. If you are using the same mix of programmes all the time it is quite possible for some item of code to be loaded in the same location repeatedly. And crash consistently. ;) Memtest (www.memtest86.com) is free. Download it, make a floppy according to the intsructions, and boot it. | Graham L (2) | |

2005-08-22 08:18:00 | It may mean nothing, then again it could be important: Have you got any more info on the BSOD (Blue Screen error message). Detail exactly the 0xXXXXXXXXXX numbers and any other info. If the error message is not always exactly the same, give the that info too. | Murray P (44) | |
2005-08-23 06:50:00 | Hi, and thanks for the replies. Sorry for posting in the wrong area, still a noob. =) Heres exactly what it says. (have a screenshot too :nerd: ) C:\windows\minidump\minio82305-01.dmp C:\docume~1\guardi~1\temp\wer1.tmp.dir00\sysdata.x ml Ill be downloading the memtest to see if that works. Thanks again!

2005-08-23 07:49:00 | Those two files are used for error checking normally when alpha or beta testing and are generated by the os. They can be read using notepad and a browser. Navigate to the location indicated C:\windows\minidump\ C:\docume~1\guardi~1\temp\wer1.tmp.dir00\ without exiting the erorr msg the "xml" document is a dump of your system config (opens in a internet browser) Be warned this file is normall very in depth and reveals all inclusive of all software and cd keys in plain text!!!!!!!!. the "dmp" file is readablle by human if you can get past the machine code, there is is human lanuage in there also often just enough to use for fault checking. Use open with choose notepad. Normally as already stated it is RAM related, faulty ram or poorly written code ie a process try to bully another process out of memory location within RAM yes it still happens. thats what all those x's, 0's and other characters are its a hex' address to a memory location in RAM

2005-08-24 03:12:00 | Have you done the memory test? Just adding memory won't fix it if the present memory is faulty. Replacing the memory if it's not faulty won't fix the problem. I suggested the test because that costs nothing. Faulty memory might not be the cause, but it's the first thing to look at.
