382871 2005-08-21 22:43:00 I have been scanning some family photos and put them on cdrw's so I can play around with them. As well as the photo files are other files I don't know what they are. They call themselves: Thumbs.db_encryptable what are they for? and do I really need them? :illogical susievb (4439)
382872 2005-08-21 23:06:00 disable hidden files etc & these won't show - they're to do with thumbnail cache of your photos - tools menu -folder options- view - do not show hidden files .... & also tick - do not cache thumbnails quarry (252)
382873 2005-08-21 23:58:00 you can also delete them if they are hogging up your hard drive. bob_doe_nz (92)

Aha! right! I find these little blighters annoying as heck! Especially when uploading stuff to the internet, you find all these thumbs.db all in any folder you have images.

Thanks

382876 2005-08-22 09:45:00 All they are are a tiny file that allows windows to show small previews of any images, webpages, etc. in a folder, thumbs being a shortened version of thumbnails. Everytime you view a folder containing images in thumbnail mode, one of these will be made automatically anyway if one is not present. Whether you decide to keep them or not is personal preference.
