382826 2005-08-21 08:13:00 Hi

I have a D-Link DSL-302G modem and just tried to do a firmware upgrade on it as was having a few issues with port forwarding, anyway selected bin file and off it went, told me to reboot it and now it just seems a little screwed. Power light is on constant but Status, ADSL and USB just flash constantly, Ethernet light is off or on depending if connected.. but i cant factory reset it, or access it via a browser and it isn't even recognised as a USB device.

is there anything i can do? :(

382827 2005-08-21 09:12:00 Did you update with the right firmware??

What was the name of the firmware update?

382828 2005-08-21 10:51:00 I'm kinda guessing i didn't by the fact it didn't work but the file was from the dlink site and was called dsl-202g . 201b40 . Looks like i've ruined it out right but if you have an idea then please let me know .

oh and now ive also tried using the dlink firmware upgrade utility, this doesn't detect a connected device .

what also confuses me is if the firmware upgrade had completely messed it would the leds still blink, and the ethernet led light with activity?!

382829 2005-08-21 11:07:00 Hmm ok, Dlink is Dlink not Dynalink right . Which one is yours here?

. dlink . com/products/support . asp?pid=67#firmware" target="_blank">www . dlink . com

Revision A or C?

Is this where u downloaded it from??

dsl-202g . 201b40 isnt one of these files . on this site .

And I would say the file you were meant to download, would start with dsl302-g, not dsl-202g .

I know nothing about whats what on Adsl modems . I've never used one, and dont intend to, with current prices for broadband .

382830 2005-08-21 11:13:00 sorry did mean 302

got it from this page - www.dlink.com.au

So anyway more info - I have noticed that when plugging the ethernet cable into it it is assigning the computer an address of 192.168.1.2 and i get ping responses from 192.168.1.1 (even though it's default ip WAS 10.1.1.1) so it's doing something right, but i cant log in to it via a browser, just times out....

... i tried telnetting into it but im not too clued up on that.... any suggestions.. dont fancy buying another modem AGAIN :(

382831 2005-08-21 11:24:00 Looks like the right firmware. Did u read the revision info?? This looks like the firmware update name?

WARNING: Loading R2.01MB40AU firmware will
reset the modem to defaults. You will need
to reconfigure your modem after loading firmware.

R2.01MB40AU - Is this the update?

1. Add MSN 6 audio support
2. Improve trace route response
3. Correct DSL stats

Did u do this?

382832 2005-08-21 11:28:00 yup read revision and knew that it would do that.. i just cant actually get to the config screen to reconfigure it and that's the prob. I'm also guessing these leds flash for a reason, just wish i could find something about it on the net? kwyjibo (7195)
382833 2005-08-21 11:30:00 ok. Have u tried turning it off and on??

To see if it does anything?? Or resetting it. Thats if it can be reset.

382834 2005-08-21 11:35:00 If it's what I think it is, then I have bad new for me. I, too, have gone down this path before, as with many other D-Link owners I know. They really should start making better modems/firmware upgrades.

Mine stuffed up, and I had the option of sending it back to factory for scripping in order to reflash/install new firmware, etc. This, I found, would have costed more than the router it self, so, since then, it's been in the cupboard -and I'm working off it's replacement, except wireless :D

382835 2005-08-21 11:36:00 reset doesn't work at all, just keeps flashing and powering it off, leaving it for a while and powering it back on just goes back to the same problem.. although this is the how it goes exactly - power light comes on on steady, adsl light comes on steady for a coupla seconds (no adsl cable plugged in atm), ethernet comes on steady (cable connected) and then status, adsl and usb leds start to continuosly flash and do so until i turn off kwyjibo (7195)
