382529 2005-08-20 09:50:00 You can get TV on a PC. You can buy PCI TV tuners or USB. Depends on how much u want to spend.

BUT either way you SHOULD be able to record from the tuner or from external sources.

382530 2005-08-20 11:45:00 Leadtek is better than Pixelview. pctek (84)
382531 2005-08-20 21:49:00 Try to get a digital card rather than an analogue one as the quality will be a lot better.

cheers

382532 2005-08-20 21:55:00 I was under the impression that Leadtek and Pixelview both used the Brooktree bt8x8 chipset for a while (Not sure if they still do), would this not mean the quality would be comparible?

What you're after is common, and you can pick up nice cheap ones from Dick Smith for around $60 on clearance sales at times.

The more $$ you spend though, the better... Anywhere up to $200 for a flashy external one :)

Not all Leadtek models are equal - in fact they have one with a hardware decoder now.

In trhat case is an nForce4 based motherboard from MSI the same quality asone from Asus?

I think not.

Anyhow, the software and drivers from Pixelview are crap, wouldn't touch em,nor a junker from DSE.
